Please feel free to reach out if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Root + Veil has both personal and symbolic meaning for us. The “R” and “V” come from our last names, Robinson and Violette, reflecting the fact that Root + Veil began as something we created together.
“Root” represents grounding, connection, and growth, as well as our shared love of the natural world and the Pacific Northwest. “Veil” represents transition, discovery, and the things that become visible as we move through different seasons of life. It also carries a subtle nod to the veil found on some mushrooms, connecting to our appreciation for the natural world and the role that curiosity, exploration, and altered perspectives can sometimes play in understanding ourselves.
Together, Root + Veil reflects a space for staying connected to what grounds us while remaining curious about what may be unfolding, changing, or waiting to be discovered.
Individual therapy is offered through secure telehealth. Because therapy is a clinical service, therapy clients must be physically located in Oregon at the time of their appointment.
Non-clinical services may be offered virtually, in person, or in a nature-based setting, depending on the service, location, and Jennifer's availability. Non-clinical services may also be available to individuals outside of Oregon.
In-person and nature-based options are limited and arranged individually based on availability and the type of support you're looking for.
Therapy and counseling with Jennifer are collaborative and tailored to what you need. Sessions typically begin with a check-in and time to identify what feels most important to focus on that day.
From there, sessions may include talking through current experiences, exploring patterns, learning new concepts or skills, slowing down to notice what is happening in the moment, or working through guided or experiential exercises together. Some people benefit from more structure, while others prefer more space to process, and Jennifer works collaboratively with you to find a balance that feels useful.
At times, Jennifer may also suggest things to notice, reflect on, or practice between sessions. There is no expectation to do any of this perfectly. The goal is to create a space that is both supportive and purposeful, while adjusting the approach as your needs change.
Yes. Jennifer is in-network with several insurance plans for individual therapy. Coverage and out-of-pocket costs vary by plan, so we recommend confirming your behavioral health benefits directly with your insurance company before beginning services.
Insurance may be used for eligible therapy services. Non-clinical counseling, professional consultation, and other services that are not covered behavioral health services are private pay.
You can find my current list of accepted insurance plans and additional billing information on the Insurance + Billing page.
The first session can look a little different from ongoing sessions because Jennifer will spend time getting to know you, understanding what brings you in, and talking together about what you hope to get from your time together.
For individual therapy, the first session also includes reviewing important practice information and beginning a clinical assessment. Jennifer will ask about your current concerns, symptoms, relevant history, and other parts of your life that may help provide a fuller picture of what you're experiencing. Assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning don't always happen neatly within a single appointment and may continue over the first few sessions.
Non-clinical counseling also begins with time to understand what you're looking for, discuss expectations and boundaries of the service, and identify how Jennifer can best support you. Because non-clinical counseling is not mental health treatment, it does not include clinical diagnosis or treatment planning.
You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to work on or how to explain everything. Part of the first few sessions is figuring that out together.
For individual therapy, Root + Veil partners with Mindful Therapy Group for administrative support, including client onboarding, insurance billing, payment processing, scheduling support, and access to the client portal and related technology. Jennifer provides your therapy through Root + Veil, while Mindful Therapy Group supports the administrative side of your care.
Prospective therapy clients should contact Jennifer through Root + Veil first to discuss availability and fit. If you decide to move forward, Mindful Therapy Group will assist with onboarding and scheduling your initial appointment.
Once therapy is established, Jennifer manages ongoing scheduling directly. Clients should contact Jennifer to schedule or reschedule appointments, although cancellations may be communicated to either Jennifer or Mindful Therapy Group. Questions about insurance, billing, payments, or access to the client portal should be directed to Mindful Therapy Group.
Mindful Therapy Group is not involved in Jennifer’s non-clinical services, including non-clinical counseling, case management, and professional consultation. Those services are arranged, scheduled, and billed directly through Root + Veil.

Therapy (or psychotherapy) is a clinical mental health service and may include assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health concerns. It can also involve working with things like anxiety, grief, trauma, relationships, identity, or other experiences that are affecting your mental health and well-being. Therapy may be eligible for insurance coverage depending on your plan.
Non-clinical counseling offers many of the same benefits of having a supportive, thoughtful space to talk through what you're experiencing, but it is not focused on diagnosing or treating a mental health condition. It may be a good fit for things like personal growth, life transitions, relationships, boundaries, values, meaning-making, or processing and integrating a psychedelic experience when clinical mental health treatment isn't needed.
Non-clinical counseling is private pay and is not billed to health insurance. If you're unsure which service fits what you're looking for, you're welcome to reach out and we can talk about it.
Psychedelic integration is a space to process and make meaning of experiences involving psychedelics. These experiences can be meaningful, confusing, challenging, transformative, or sometimes simply difficult to put into words.
Jennifer offers a nonjudgmental space to explore what came up during an experience, how it may connect with your life, and what, if anything, you want to carry forward. Integration isn't about deciding what an experience should mean, but creating space to explore it with curiosity and consider how it might inform your values, relationships, choices, or understanding of yourself.
Depending on your needs, psychedelic integration may be provided within individual therapy or as a non-clinical service.
No. Root + Veil does not provide, prescribe, administer, or supply psychedelic substances. Jennifer's work focuses on psychedelic integration and support before or after experiences that occur outside of services provided by Root + Veil.

Professional consultation is available for individuals, professionals, and organizations looking for support related to Jennifer’s areas of professional experience. Consultation is collaborative and may include discussion, problem-solving, resource development, or exploring questions related to behavioral health, social work, program development, research, systems, or psychedelic services.
Jennifer’s professional background includes healthcare, child welfare, research, public service, behavioral health systems, and helping develop and implement Oregon’s regulated psilocybin services program.
Consultation is educational and collaborative and is not psychotherapy or a substitute for legal, medical, or other professional advice outside Jennifer’s scope of practice.
Case management provides practical support when navigating healthcare, behavioral health, community resources, or other systems feels complicated or overwhelming. Depending on your needs, Jennifer may help identify resources, coordinate with providers or other supports, problem-solve barriers, organize next steps, or help you better understand and navigate the systems you're working with.
Case management may be provided alongside other services or on its own, depending on the type of support you're looking for. Because needs can vary considerably, the scope of case management is discussed individually before services begin.
Things come up. If you need to cancel or reschedule a scheduled appointment, Jennifer asks for at least 48 hours’ notice whenever possible. Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, as well as missed appointments, may be subject to a $125 late cancellation/no-show fee. Jennifer understands that emergencies, illness, and unexpected circumstances happen, and exceptions may be considered when appropriate.
For additional information about fees and financial policies, please visit the Fees + Policies page.
That’s okay! You don’t need to know exactly which service fits your needs before reaching out.
Jennifer can help clarify what you’re looking for and whether therapy, non-clinical counseling, case management, professional consultation, or another type of support may be the best fit. If what you’re looking for falls outside the services Jennifer provides, she can also let you know so you can explore other options.
